BBB will be collecting eWaste as they did last year at a minimal charge. \nView the list of the accepted and non-accepted eWaste items. \nHow long do I have to keep my dental charts?\nThe Supreme Court of Ohio recently upheld the constitutionality of the state’s four-year statute of repose in medical and dental malpractice actions. A statute of repose is a provision that sets a time frame in which a legal right extinguishes. In other words\, the statute of repose places an effective time limitation on when dental malpractice suits may be filed against a treating dentist. Ohio’s statute of repose bars actions filed more than four years after the date of treatment\, except in the case of those patients who are mentally infirm and with minors\, in which case the four years begins to run upon emancipation. \nDentists had previously been instructed to retain patient records indefinitely to aid in the defense of a lawsuit. However\, this favorable court ruling may help relieve dentists’ record-keeping burden. There may be circumstances where a dental office must maintain records for a certain period of time; for instance\, the retention requirement for Medicaid records (6 years) and Medicare records (7 years). Participating provider agreements also generally specify record retention requirements\, as well as many professional liability insurance agreements. Dentists are encouraged to obtain guidance from legal counsel and their malpractice insurer prior to the disposal of any patient records and to seek guidance on establishing a new record retention policy.…By Eric Richmond\, ODA Director of Legal and Legislative Services \nCoffee and Donuts – Compliments of the Cincinnati Dental Society \nBoxes without X-Rays\, first 5 standard boxes are at no charge\, compliments of CDS. \nAdditional standard boxes – $8 each box. \nA STANDARD BOX IS ABOUT THE SAME SIZE AS A COPY PAPER BOX. \nYES\, all office paper\, copy/computer paper\, magazines/newspapers\, envelopes\, post it notes\, manilla folders\, hanging file folders\, staples\, paper clips\, rubber bands\, or binder clips. Collier\, J.D.\, LL.M.\, president of Collier & Associates\, Inc. will be presenting a course on: \n“Taking Charge of Your Practice and Personal Financial Planning-With Particular Focus on Younger Dentists”\nThis course will teach the basics of financial planning – from learning how to estimate how much it will take to one day retire to\, how much will need to be saved each year to get you there\, and last but not least\, how to actually doit! These are the things you’d typically pay a financial planner thousands to do for you\, and then a portfolio manager much more overtime. Investing is often made to seem difficult\, but it doesn’t have to be. These are skills that anyone (who is interested) can learn and apply themselves. \nBrandon will pay particular attention to younger doctors\, including huge student debt (a big negative) and their longer runway before retirement (an enormous positive). We will discuss whether student debt should be prepaid and how to do it (and how the federal income-driven repayment plans work). In addition\, Brandon will address the different options for retirement savings depending on whether you are or are becoming a practice owner or will work primarily in the corporate/DSO setting. \nIn addition\, Brandon will address hot topics in dental practice including why practice ownership is far and away the best long-term economic alternative for a young doctor\, digging into the details of a DSO acquisition\, and basic steps to maximize practice profitability\, including the compounding power of annual fee increases\, how to effectively drop PPOs\, and the financial benefits of purchasing another practice. \nLearning Objectives\n\nAfter attending this course\, you will understand the basics of personal financial planning\, including estimating how much you will eventually need for retirement and how much needs to be saved along the way in order for you to meet your goal.\nYou will understand what different investments are\, how they work\, and when is the right time to invest in them – from cash to fixed income (bonds)\, stocks\, and mutual funds.\nYou will understand the different investment vehicles that may or may not be available to you\, depending on your facts and circumstances\, and when and how to take advantage of their powerful tax benefits\, including traditional and Roth IRAs\, SIMPLE IRAs\, 401(k)/profit sharing plans\, and cash balance defined benefit\nYou will understand key concepts for practice profit maximization\, including periodic fee increases\, in-house marketing\, when and how to effectively drop PPO plans\, and the benefits of acquiring another practice.\n\nSchedule:\n\n9:00 am – Registration/Check-In\n9:30 am – Program Begins\n11:30 am – Lunch Served During Program 1:30 pm – Program Ends\n\n“Enjoy the Museum to 5:00 pm”\n\n\n\nFee:\nMember Dentists of the Dental Societies (Cincinnati\, Columbus\, and Dayton) = $90/member Non-Member Dentist = $110 each **** Spouse/Guest = $35/Person \nAdditional Info:\n\nFree Parking\, Museum Open 9:00 am to 5:00 pm\, Free Admission to the Museum.\nCE Hours: Four (4)\n\nSponsored in part by Advantage Technologies\, Cincinnati Insurance Companies\, DDS United\, Haleon\, Hiossen Implants\, Kerr Dental\, Kuraray Noritake\, orthobrain® and US Bank. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \nAbout Brandon S. Integrative medicine addresses lifestyle in the pursuit of ideal health\, aiming to identify and reverse the root causes of illness. Rather than focusing solely on symptom reduction\, this approach promotes robust health\, sharp cognition\, sustained energy\, restorative sleep\, and vital living. \nDr. Huber lectures nationally on hormone replacement therapies\, cardiovascular care\, sports medicine\, and other integrative medicine topics for the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine and George Washington University’s Metabolic Medicine Institute. He has also developed a unique Corporate Health Program focused on addressing Metabolic Syndrome to reduce healthcare costs while restoring employee productivity. \nDr. Huber and his wife\, Beth\, are avid cyclists and outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy spending time outside with their dogs and two children. His passion lies in exploring the boundaries of human performance. \n“We are only limited by our mind’s ability to see the next possibility. It is our mind\, not our body\, that holds us back from the ultimate life experience.” \nThe Cincinnati Dental Society is an ADA CERP Recognized Provider approved by the ODA.
